PROTECT YOUR STUDENTS!!

From time to time there is a problem with people claiming to be RAM members when they are not.  Some of them have never been members at all, others were members once, but were expelled for professional misconduct of one sort or another.  In one or two cases they are disturbed people who are a real menace in the life class and are already barred from many colleges and schools.

You will have noticed that the links to this page are labelled "card sharp", but that's just for historical reasons.  All RAM registered models used to carry membership cards - well, in theory, they did.  We phased them out because we found that few members were bothering to carry their cards around with them, or if they did, they soon lost them.

However, nearly all members are now on this website.  Even if you are not a licence-holder (an employer with a password), you can at least check to see if a model who has approached you for work has a profile on the site.  If not, you can always contact us to see if the model is RAM registered but without a profile.  If you are a licence-holder you can find all RAM models, whether they have a profile or not, by going into the employers' area of the site.  Section 4 of that area has an alphabetical list of all RAM registered models.

Please remember - we can't take any action against anyone who isn't a member, even if they used to be.  If they are already out of RAM, we can't expel them!

We are not trying to discredit all models who choose not to join RAM.  Some of them have excellent reputations and we would welcome them as members.  But it is a plain fact that there is a small minority of people who manage to get themselves employed as models, who should never be allowed anywhere near a life room.

A related problem you should be aware of is the case of the practical joker, who visits, telephones or emails colleges pretending to be a RAM official (or even the 'Chairman' of RAM).  He then perpetrates hoaxes in order to discredit RAM, having been expelled many years ago.  The hoaxes can take many forms.  One college agreed to allow him to book their models for them but, of course, no models ever turned up.

RAM officials NEVER drop in on colleges.  The hoax emails and phone calls may be harder to recognize, but you can always check with us, using a form from this site.
