UNPAID WORK
A lot of people expect models to work for nothing. They include the following:
1. Photographers offering prints in exchange for posing (this is known as Time-for-Prints or TFP). Quite a lot of male models are prepared to work on this basis, but very few females.
2. Television companies looking for people to participate in various shows or documentaries, nude or clothed. Sometimes they're prepared to pay, but usually they think you're so keen to get on the telly that you'll do it for expenses only.
3. Newspapers, magazines and radio stations wanting interviews. Journalist often come up with the idea of doing an article on life modelling, believing it to be a brand new idea. In fact such articles have been cropping up with monotonous regularity every few months, for at least fifty years. (Of course, that could indicate that there's great interest among readers). Unfortunately, journalists rarely want to pay you for the interview, because they don't see it as work. In general, models see it differently.
4. Artists or publicists organizing 'Happenings' such as mass nude-ins or other high-jinx in the name of art. The artists often (but not always) expect you to do this for the sake of art or because it's great fun. Spencer Tunick can get thousands of people to work for him for free, and such things may well be worth taking part in, just for fun.
